Take 3

I'm making this pattern, based on Madli's shawl in the book Knitted Lace of Estonia - with a bit modificatin - for the third time. I've already memorized it by the time i finished the first so even though it is a 10-row lace pattern, i can do it with minimal concentration. I love it :)
I've also got two letters today i'm very glad about - one is an invitation from the gp for a screening, it is high time i'd go! The other is from the theraphy i've signed up for. I'm actually making steps and it feels soooo goood. On the way to healing and being a better person :)
Ah and i've bought yarn yesterday. I planned to get some this weekend or maybe early next week after all the bills are taken off my account but one of my favourite shops did an update on their one-off skeins and i decided to get one of them. And also got the originally planned lace one too. Can't wait for those two beauties to arrive, hopefully on monday or tuesday latest!

Easyknits

This shop should be shot down and Jon (the guy running it) locked up. (Just kidding!!) Every time i think i got all the stuff i like from there, he comes up with something i-have-to-have-it-RiGHT-NOW!! :D
The sock club kit just came in couple weeks ago - inspired by Van Gogh's Sunflowers, instant woosh :) Next day, i had a look at the shop and what did i found?

Twinkling yarn. Just what i need for winter to cheer me up in the cold. And i had no money to have any!!

Today's the first day in weeks i have some yarn-money to spend, so i went to the page, and what do i see? Lace yarn. L-A-C-E. Ok maybe these ones i'll be able to resist, whit a bit of persuaison.
And then there's the merino-silk blend which has one of my favourite colour combinations ever, the all-colour-mix. Tho i might get that one in a less elegant fibre, there's a bfl version too...

I'll leave half of last weeks wage there. Of course the sly little rascal comes up with the best stuff before christmas, it's business after all. But he does keep coming up with colourways that are so spot on for me that if i could dye my own yarn i probably couldnt make them so close to my taste.

Keep up the good work Jon :)

(And no, this is not an advertisement, i'm just really enthusiastic about my favourite yarn-shop :)

Phat Fiber Sampler Box

This thing is creepy. The shop had about 1670 sell at 15:00 and 1736 at 15:01. Thanks to a tutorial i managed to rush through the checkout , then went back to actually take a look at the things, and all was gone. In about 40 seconds. This would've looked nasty in a real shop!!!

Tekergető - Swifting

This arrived on friday. No, on thursday. I mean these, an umbrella swift and a yarn winder (why, o why pink and orange?!!!)
The winder makes 50g balls, as i immediatly realized as the first skein i wound up was 100g and totally fall apart at around 65-70 gramms.

I had a bag of rowan summer tweed laying around since spring - a 10 pack bag of 50g skeins, plus two more. I made up one for a ball and made a swatch, but did not liked either of them. Skeins too small - too much fiddling - yarn scratchy and strange. It's 70% silk 30% cotton, full with little colourful specks. Both the front of my hoodie and my trousers are covered with yarn morsels after knitting up about half a ball. But i like it much more now, it doesn't seem so hard and scratchy at all.

I bought these for a Central Park Hoodie on a sale (halfprice), but when i get to the point to cast on, just couldn't imagine a CPH in that colour. At least not for myself. It is pale blue with pastel flecks, so it would be good for someone very pale, or someone very dark, but not this brownie of me. So after two days of pondering what to do with the rediscovered stash - it's still rare for me to have a jumper worth of yarn which is not acrylic, due to budget restrains - i settled on the Lush and Lacy Cardi. It's small and light enough for being able to imagine even myself with this colour. So far, good, stich count ok., swatch was ok., i'm awaiting the first disaster...

Other: finished Othello on wednesday - omg, i cant remember any other drama i read (though i did not read too much...) where everyone announced that "and now, i die". Uff.
Started Romeo and Juliet on thursday. Wow. I never realized before how short time passes between the first glances at each other and Juliet's proposal. I like that girl. I never liked Romeo, he's a whimp and plain stupid, but never payed enough attention to Juliet.
After reading Shakespeare for one hour every lunchtime, it's a bit strange to go back and hear the erratic blabbing we immigrants do with english language. :D
