Last saturday we went out for a drink with my cousin K; L stayed behind as he didn't had a chance to get in front of the computer 'coz K was doing stuff on it for him all day. So, girls party :)
And for the first time in our whole life, close to three decades, i've drunk more than her. We are definitely* getting old. If someone told me a few years ago that i'll be drinking beer in a british pub while K is having an energy drink without alcohol, i've laughed at them. Hard. First of all i didn't drink beer up until last summer'coz i couldn't, it was too bitter for me. I only had a few sips when we were in Estonia on a field trip with the uni and visited the A.le Coq beer factory in Tartu, and a glass at the goodbye party my classmates practically forced me to drink. It took hours and i only managed because those estonians can make some seriously fine beer, my brother still remembers longingly at that Saaremaa beer i brought for him; the very spicy dinner preceeding it also helped i guess. In the last two years though, since K moved here in England, we usually had Jägermeister as that's her favourite - yeah she's a tough girl :) and i had enough of vine-and-coke (Ok this sounds like i'm a big drinker but i'm really not. One or two glasses occasionaly.) And Jäger's bitter, but i've learned to handle it. So at the summer when i had a pint at the german beergarden i realized with surprise that it isn't that bitter at all. And is significantly cheaper and lasts longer then a shot of jäger with some soda, so since then i'm stuck to my pint.
I've found a funny line in AG too: "When you [white] people finally give up and go home, you can leave us the Budweiser breweries" - says Whiskey Jack. I have to admit currently i like Bud' the best because it doesn't have a bitter aftertaste, even though i cringe for the thought it's a u.s. product and not aussie or european, but i can't help it.
So we were drinking our stupid consumer american things and talked about nothing people usually talk at a saturday evening outing: instead we talked about american history, as this is (partly) my topic lately, and guns, and the combination of the two, and about the movie Schindler's List and the book and the real events behind it. A few weeks back, L was there too at that time, we talked about nuclear bombs, ethics and what that Mengele guy did. Another occasion we talked about constellations and astronomy.
No wonder we both (K and me) are singles, who could put up with girls like us who's not family? :D Even our respective brothers have problems with us :D :D
* I keep forget the spelling of this word. Definatley, definetley, definateley... argggh. Have to look up the dictionary all the time.

Gail (aka Nightsongs)
I'm on the 13th row on the edge chart and i have scarcely enough yarn to finish one row. Either i'll have to order another skein for 13 pounds and have 95% of it left over, or have to rip the shawl back to the sixth pattern repeat and start the edge chart there. Thats more than 20 rows :( Gail is put on hiatus, for now, until i find the courage to deal with it.
Same goes for the Lush and Lacy cardigan, the back turned out to be almost an inch shorter then the fronts so either i rip it and make the back longer or have to do some tricks with the sewing.
I think i shall go now and knit some simple, easy, un-mess-up-able (or something like this...) squares for the bedcover.

Sápadtarcúak - Palefaces
I think i'm watching too much indian stuff lately. As in too many red-brown skinned men :D Today i saw a nice looking guy in the store and thought "mm, he looks good, but is a bit too pale". Almost laughed out loud at myself as he wasn't particularly fair just had a rather pale skintone with contrasting darker hair. Yeah, well, this is England here, people can be very white, or even very pink... and there are more of these types, proportionatly, than what i got used to in Hungary, but until now the lots of black and asian people - whom i wasn't used at all - balanced this out. At home most people are white, even though more brown then here, but still white race (or is this word already considered non-pc?) We have a proportion of romani people and the occasional chinese shopkeeper and black students, but nowhere near the mixture of nations and colours and features like here. And it took me a while to get used to it, simply because it is strange. No wonder people get suspicious, prejudiced and even adverse. I can understand it now. Not agree, but realize that it is (another) human weakness.
It's one of those things i didn't came across at home and make this whole living-abroad, being uprooted thing a bit more valuable experience then just working in a sponge factory.

Életjel - Sign of life
Seems like i have anything better to do then blogging. I tried, but it takes so much time to write a decent one (khm... at least by my measures. Meaning "not too embarassing".) Looking back this two weeks since the big snow - well, snow's gone; wrote 3 posts but couldn't finish either of them due to increasing obstruction by yawning, heavy eyelids and erratic brain performance.
What i did do: ripped back the Gail i started around november, and started again. Goes better now, though still had to do twice every second/third right-side row but that's due to my usual method of watching movies while knitting. I'm on the fifth pattern repeat now, and still like the yarn, both the colours and the construction of it, there was one row i had to make 4 times and just couldn't get it rigt, and the yarn endured all three ripping. Five stars.
Also had read two of the library books, and would have finished the third too but for the three days of holidays i had this week, which meant no one hour lunch-break but constant internet and pc access - minus 3 hours of reading time :D
Also watched three movies, and a hungarian cartoon mini-series i found amongst my dvds. The latest one is a very lovely story about a fox, very popular in Hungary both the cartoon and the book it was based on, but also sort of sad, so i avoided it for a very long time. I thouhgt i will just watch the first two parts, and stop before it turns sad, but the original four parts were edited into one long movie in this dvd so couldn't stop literally :) I'm glad i watched it though, it's a very heart-warming story.
And now i'm off to the library before they close...

Hóhelyzet - The case of snow

Sose érek a végére attól tartok...)
No sebaj.

Piac - Market
I hate it when i have to sell something: unneded furniture, workforce, freetime - or vacant room.
